To increase measurement accuracy and reproducibility between taper inspections on a single part, mark a guideline with a felt tip pen along the crests of the threads. Then, add a mark on the thread itself for each desired inspection interval. These lines act as a reference point for placing the taper gage’s contact points between successive measurements.
